I have a lot of questions about the ID cards. We didn’t lose passports, we lost ID cards, credit cards and debit cards. Our passports were in a different pouch safely packed in a bag.
Good story, but wondering how on earth you got out after losing your IDs, money, etc? With no ID, how could you get anywhere? Scary!! That was almost the worst part of the whole thing, and it would be great to hear how you coped with that.

Wonderful account of your adventure. And yes, it's fucked how people over here have normalized it. It's NOT normal. I think my brain has been rewired and not sure that's a good thing. It's traumatizing.
Thanks so much Phil for taking the time to write up your experience. It really helps to see what people like you are going through over there. I too am wondering how you handled losing your cards, ID, and cash.
Phil! Thank you for sharing your experience. Much gratitude for your perspective - on the ground and pulled back at 30,000 feet. I’m so relieved that you and your family made it home safely. Kudos to you for your awareness and ability to respond. Blessings to you and your family as you process all of this.🌞
Great story!... but without you IDs and Credit cards, how were you able to continue across borders and check-in for flights, and finally pass through UK Immigration?
We didn't lose passports - just ID cards. Driving license, credit cards, debit cards, cash, all in one pouch, were lost. I had the passports (thankfully) packed elsewhere.
How did you overcome loss of cards, ID, and cash to continue? Glad you all got home ok.

Thank goodness your passports packed separately! :-)

Normalization may help with keeping calm in chaotic situation ?
What is the name of the Kiwi hosts that put you up after you left Dubai?
They need public recognition, they maybe saved your lives
